I have been a professional photographer since 1996. William Foster Photography began with a focus on weddings and portraits, but I quickly began working with businesses and building a commercial clientele. During this time, I continued to photograph weddings and portraits as time permitted.

Having spent a lot of time over the years photographing presidents, prime ministers, celebrities, foreign dignitaries and political figures, I managed to catch the eye of the Schwarzenegger administration and was appointed as the Governor’s Official Photographer in 2007 and 2008. During this time, it was my duty to capture the daily events of the Governor and First Lady.

After two years in the position, I resigned as Official Photographer and have returned to freelance photography. While still serving commercial and public relations clients, I have also returned to my photographic origins of family portraits and weddings. With an eye for journalistic photographs and a unique body of experience in high pressure, high volume, high visibility photography assignments I will capture your wedding day like no other photographer. Family portraits also capture a natural, candid look that will draw the attention of everyone who enters your home. I look for fleeting, candid moments, a brief smile, a coy look, a moment that cannot be repeated.

I can’t imagine myself in a career in which I’m not behind the camera. I love making photos that people are proud to show in their homes, and I’m eternally thankful for the clients who trust me to capture their families in photos that bring them joy.

William Foster is a general member of the White House News Photographers Association and the US Senate Press Photographers Gallery and can frequently be found in Washington DC photographing events like the inauguration, State of the Union Address and other newsworthy events.
